Mark Butler launched his Tutor Doctor franchise in May 2014 with his wife Jo. Mark was searching for a business idea when he came across Tutor Doctor and after putting several different franchise ideas to Jo, most of which she quite correctly pointed out were terrible, she loved the idea of a tutoring franchise and so begun a close partnership with Tutor Doctor which has lasted 11 years.
Fully admitting that he had very little knowledge of the education sector, having two boys at school meant that he at least had a good idea of what happened in school until about year 8. Fortunately, many long cold nights doing consultations in Reading quickly taught them the rest, and in no time Mark and Jo were self- taught educational gurus.
Tragically we lost Jo to cancer in May 2024, but her memory lives on with Mark, his team and everyone at Tutor Doctor who knew her, and Mark continues to build the company in her memory.
Life now revolves around seeing his sons thrive in their careers, little knowing how much they’d helped launch the business simply by virtue of being schoolboys, three slightly annoying cats and a lot of tennis.
